Van Bavel Theater

Dedication of Van Bavel Theater

A welcome new thread was added to the Bryan-College Station performing arts tapestry Aug. 12, 2010 when Saint Michael's Episcopal School dedicated the Van Bavel Theater. The new facility makes it possible for Saint Michael's students to offer all their performances on their own campus instead of having to rely on borrowed space elsewhere.

The theater, part of a sparkling auditorium/gymnasium/theater building, has a professional-quality stage that can accommodate even large-cast productions, as well as dressing rooms and costume and property rooms.
The theater was made possible by a generous gift from Nicholas Van Bavel, a Saint Michael's graduate, and is named in honor of his parents, Margaret and Cornelius Van Bavel, longtime residents here who now are retired in Kerrville.

The contribution from Nicholas continues the Van Bavel family's history of service that has contributed significantly to the quality of life here. To cite only one example from many, it was Margaret's dedicated campaign that inspired the rescue and restoration of the historic Boonville Cemetery.

We urge everyone with an interest in theater and arts education to take advantage of the Van Bavel Theater and the talent of the Saint Michael's students whenever they offer a production. We are confident you will be impressed with their performance and with the facility.
